Economy of PBBGs

gamaI ran into this article a few weeks back, but for some reason I didn’t think of adding it back then.

But I find it most interesting to anyone developing a multiplayer browser-based game (myself included), as it reveils some important information on the economic acheivements of some of the most successful BBGs out there, including economic performance.

Read carefully. Note that one conclusion that is relatively easy to derive is, when advertizing your BBG through banners makes sense. Of course tehre’s more to it than just numbers, such as the increased added value of the first commers to the community as a whole, the costs of running your game, and so forth. But at least now you can compare that to an ARPU that you can expect to receive, and decide when it’s worth ito invest in banners, based on more than just guesses.
