Balancing Multiplayer Competitive Games

Game balancing is an important part of my game development work, especially for complex games such as MMOs (example¬†-¬†Iron Grip: Lords of War), but often people ask me what it is exactly, or how it’s done.

Here’s a nice article I ran accross recently. It is rather basic and covers only a certain facet of the job, but still it gives a good idea of what’s involved – as well as some pointers for thought when starting to design a game.

So here’s a direct link to the article (by David Sirlin).
